ONLINE ANATOMY OF MOVEMENT COURSE
This online course prepares students to have a practical understanding of movement, anatomy and physiology required for any Pilates, Yoga or Personal Fitness teaching program.
There is a focus on anatomical terminology, which includes anatomical position, planes of motion, types of movement, names and locations of the majority of the bones in the body, locations and actions of joints, major muscle groups and the individual muscles’ origin insertion and action.
Select exercises from the STOTT PILATES® repertoire are also broken down and analyzed in terms of the functional anatomy at play. Participants will deepen their understanding of the body and enhance their teaching with improved exercise selection and programming.
This course is recommended for students interested in progressing to the STOTT PILATES® Intensive Mat and/or Reformer Course.
INTENSIVE MAT-PLUS™
Becoming a STOTT PILATES® Mat instructor you will be building on your industry knowledge it teaches you to design and lead the Level 1 Essential and Intermediate STOTT PILATES® Matwork repertoire, for personal or group training settings for a range of clients. You will leave with a solid foundation and required skills to develop effective and motivating Pilates Matwork programs.

INTENSIVE REFORMER
This intensive program teaches you to design and lead the Level 1 Essential and Intermediate STOTT PILATES® Reformer repertoire for personal or group training settings for a range of clients. You will leave with a solid foundation and required skills to develop effective and motivating Pilates Reformer programs. While Intensive Reformer may be taken prior to Intensive Matwork, it is recommended to complete Intensive Matwork first.
Reformer is the most popular piece of equipment in Pilates. Learn how to use the highly versatile tool to program and instruct personal training and group classes with confidence using hundreds of spring resistance exercises.
If you haven’t completed comprehensive anatomy studies, it is highly recommended you enrol in our online Anatomy of Movement Course.

Observation
Includes watching sessions taught by a STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor or relevant STOTT PILATES® videos (obtained from Merrithew Head Office).
Physical review
Means physically performing the exercises learned in class. Taking a class with a STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor or working out with video can qualify as physical review hours, and can be completed individually or with other students.
Practice teaching
Hours can be fulfilled by instructing family, fellow students, friends or clients.
INTENSIVE REFORMER
Our STOTT PILATES® Reformer course offers you the chance to deepen your pilates knowledge and experience. This course is intended for those already working in the fields of fitness or movement, as well as those who have been practicing Pilates and have a keen interest.
Conducted over 10 days, this course will teach you to design and lead the Level 1 Essential and Intermediate STOTT PILATES® Reformer repertoire for personal or group training settings for a range of clients. You will leave with a solid foundation and required skills to develop effective and motivating Pilates Reformer programs.

The STOTT PILATES® Intensive Program (Level 1) is intended for those already working in the fields of fitness or movement, or those who have completed the Online Anatomy course and have a keen interested in Pilates. The course teaches you to design and lead Essential and Intermediate STOTT PILATES® Matwork repertoire, for personal or group training settings for a range of clients. You will leave with a solid foundation and required skills to develop effective and motivating programs.
INTENSIVE REFORMER
This course is intended for those already working in the fields of fitness or movement, or completed the Anatomy of Movement Course and want to attend the Teacher Training program for Reformer.
Building on your industry knowledge it teaches you to design and lead the Level 1 Essential and Intermediate STOTT PILATES® Reformer repertoire for personal or group training settings for a range of clients. You will leave with a solid foundation and required skills to develop effective and motivating Pilates Reformer programs. While IR may be taken prior to IMP, we recommend completing IMP first.

TOTAL BARRE FOUNDATION COURSE
The dynamic Total Barre® program is intended for those already working in the fields of fitness or movement. Instructors looking to bring music-inspired movement to their clients will love the 11 specially arranged and selected segments that serve as the template for each session or class.
Segments are accompanied by brilliantly crafted Merrithew Music™ tracks, each at a designated pace and focus on individual areas of the body or movement type.
Upon completion of the Instructor Foundation Course, participants will be able to teach the Total Barre method of exercise.
The 7 hour, one-day Total Barre Foundation Course provides the groundwork for Instructors to produce safe, effective and varied barre programs that address the needs and goals of every client. Participants are introduced to the Total Barre Principles – six movement awareness fundamentals that provide the structure and biomechanical basis for each exercise. During the course, participants have the opportunity to experience the movements before examining the application of the principles, and learn the essence of each exercise along with the theories of dynamic stability, optimal mobility and movement efficiency.
INTENSIVE CADILLAC, CHAIR & BARRELS
This course is intended for those already working in the fields of fitness or movement, as well as those who are unable to devote the time required in our Comprehensive Program due to work and/or scheduling issues. Conducted over 3 weeks or 4 weekends. Students registering for this course must have completed Intensive Mat Plus or Intensive Reformer. The Cadillac, Chair, & Barrels course has been structured into three separate modules; ICAD, ICHR and IBRL, to give you maximum flexibility. Completion of all three modules is required to be eligible for certification.
In the Intensive stream we’re looking for self-directed and highly motivated people with industry-specific knowledge and skills, as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ideal candidates include
- Current health and fitness professionals with prior teaching experience
- Career changers who would like to begin their training while still working full-time
Admission requirements
- Working knowledge of functional anatomy and prior participation in an anatomy course that covers in detail the human musculoskeletal system and includes muscle attachments, actions and basic biomechanics. Acceptable courses include the STOTT PILATES® Functional Anatomy course or a university or college level anatomy or physiology course (minimum of 20–25 hours of in-class instruction). Online courses may be accepted provided they amount to a minimum 20–25 hours of learning and include homework assignments, tests and/or a final examination
- Minimum 30 hours participation in Pilates classes/workouts
- Pre-requisite requirements: Completion of STOTT PILATES® Intensive Matwork and/or Intensive Reformer
ZEN•GA® FOUNDATION COURSE
The ZEN•GA® program is a teaching modality that consciously connects the body and the mind through a fusion of Pilates, yoga, martial arts and meditation. Through intention and imagery, ZEN•GA will unleash the body from tension and bring more clarity to the mind. Using props and equipment, we stimulate the fascial system and build endurance, strength, mobility and stability while cultivating a greater sense of physical awareness.
Our ZEN•GA® programs provide a balanced and thorough blend of theory, observation and practical experience to help you master the repertoire. Both courses teach you workouts that are functional; combining strength, endurance, flexibility, and dynamic stability of the entire body while increasing awareness and mindfulness through movement. Provide your clients with a mindful workout that encompass the bodies’ natural rhythms developing more ease and proficiency while developing a more youthful, resilient fluid body, stimulating the neuromyofascial web of the body and hydrating the myofascial meridians.
The ZEN•GA Level 1 Mat Course will help us explore the foundational principles that make up the method and apply them to movement programs designed to help reach the desired goals. This is a seven-hour in-class training (plus one-hour break) – and some yoga or other mind-body training is highly recommended.
General course objectives:
- Explain the origins of ZEN•GA and be able to define what it is.
- Summarize the ZEN•GA principles – Breath, Support, Yield, Flow – and explain how they are incorporated in movement.
- Teach a ZEN•GA Foundation class to any level participant.
- Effectively teach ZEN•GA programming to a client at any level.
- Explore foundational movement patterns and the fascial system through movement.
- Experience programming ideas that bring the principles to application.
TOTAL BARRE FOUNDATION COURSE

- Learn creative choreography of a well-balanced Barre workout

Practice teaching and physical review hours must be logged outside of class time. The practice logs must be submitted on your exam date (either written or practical exam). If the student fails to submit all the logs within 7 days from the last portion of the exam, the entire exam will be void.

LEAD INSTRUCTOR TRAINER ROUXCHELLE
A native South African with a dance background, Rouxchelle began her STOTT PILATES® training in 2005. She opened a home studio and commercial studio in South Africa before relocating to New Zealand in 2010.
After moving to Australia in 2011, she opened a new Studio ROUX Wellness. Rouxchelle is a great ambassador for Merrithew® and her passion and enthusiasm are contagious.
She is fully certified in STOTT PILATES and is a Merrithew Lead Instructor Trainer specializing in STOTT PILATES Matwork & Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, & Barrels, ISP, Total Barre®, Halo® Training and Merrithew Fasical Movement.
She is also a Qualified Instructor in ZEN•GA®, CORE™, and Merrithew Fascial Movement.
Rouxchelle creates an atmosphere of love and support for both clients and Instructors.
Her client list includes all ages and all possible needs, from post-surgery rehabilitation to performance-enhancement for elite athletes such as Australian Olympic kayaker Naomi “Floody” Flood and Canadian Olympic kayaker Emily Fournel.
